Description
X-ROW Kuro King 1/24. Epic. Amazeballs. #betterthansex. Don’t bother reading any further, this is all you need to know!
We have been watching the development of this platform for some time now, and it is hard to communicate how impressed we’ve been. From the sheer ambition of the design, to the finesse with which it has been executed. Then the dedication of the manufacturer in addressing the teething issues seen in the early production versions, and ensuring those early customers received the updates parts. “Maximum effort” as Deadpool would say!
So lets just reel off some specs: 1/24 scale. Internally sprung shocks. True beadlock wheels. Super sticky tires. Scale hard body. Adjustable length alloy chassis. All-metal gears. 2-speed transmission – yes that’s correct. Remote locking diffs. Rewind, you whaa..? YES! Remote locking diffs…
So it has a phenomenal spec sheet. What else? Well use your eyes, this thing is freakin’ drop-dead gorgeous! The shocks are just lovely, and that two-speed transmission should be mounted in the Louvre!
Lock’n’load – let’s off-road!
There will be many opinions about the locking diffs – limited practical value, additional weight and complication, blah blah. But any driver who has been in a tight spot will be familiar with their locked axles failing to place the wheels where they need to be. If you want increased turning radius, you could opt for 4ws, or a dig unit, but for a true scaler these aren’t really an option. Opening the diffs instantly provides a tighter turning radius, then lock them again to climb your way out.
Oh, and let’s not forget the excitement when Traxxas pulled this off with the TRX-4. At 1/10 scale it is an impressive feat of engineering. At 1/24 it must surely be operated by magic! Yes, they add complication and some weight to the rig, but it is staggering how well this has been accomplished here. The diff pumpkins are unbelievably svelte. We ask you to compare them to the slightly larger Capo Cub, and then consider that the Kuro King is approximately 1/4 of the price. The Bowden tube activation system is not only genius, it also looks great, and works flawlessly. We rest our case.
Practical Information
So, you can tell we might be a teeny bit over-excited about this. Let’s look at some of the practical issues. You will receive a partially-built rolling chassis with a highly detailed D90 Defender hard body, beautifully presented and complete with a comprehensive instruction manual to help you complete the build. This truck uses the familiar N20 motor as used with the Orlandoos and GeKo GK24. The wheels are approx 19mm diameter, and use the same double-flat hub as the Orlandoos.
NOTE: No electronics are included with the kit. X-ROW offer a range of electronics intended for the Kuro-King, all of which we stock. Check the list below for required and optional electronic components. There are also other optional body detail extras available including a post-2007 bonnet, alloy stone guard and rubber mudflaps.
