Description
X-Row Kuro King ESC. A nicely presented 3S-capable brushed ESC. No fancy features, and there are more compact ESCs on the market, but you get a nice, solid-feeling unit. Being able to run 3S (12v max) is a nice touch and will be a deciding factor for some drivers.
The power leads are all nice soft silicone coated 24AWG and the servo cable is also heavy-duty for a micro. It comes with a pre-wired on/off switch, a power cap and the metal case doubles as a heatsink. You also get a hefty 5v 1A BEC circuit, which should be plenty to power the steering, shift and diff lock servos on the 1/24 Kuro King.
The only downside to this esc is the use of losi micro-style connectors, which we aren’t big fans of. Since these are used throughout the other Kuro King electronic components it makes sense, but please be aware of the polarity before plugging in a battery. Depending on the application these connectors can come with black and red leads reversed, and it is easy to make an expensive error.
The ESC is suited to crawlers and does not have a ‘double-tap’ brake mode – just forwards and reverse. It also does not provide a drag brake function. The gear reduction box on the N20 motors provides adequate drag braking.
